FAQ

I can’t find my voucher email

First, check your spam folder or run a search in your mailbox. It’ll be the quickest way to find your voucher email. If that doesn’t work, just send an email to customer@mytowndeal.com. We’ll get it to you in the next day, most of the time sooner than that.

To ensure you are getting our emails, add “deal@mytowndeal.com” to your contact list. See our how-to guide.

My voucher has expired. Can I still use it?

Contact the merchant and ask them whether they will still honor it. In some cases, they will give you the amount you paid for in a credit towards goods or service. However, this decision is at the merchant’s discretion.

How does the 5% non-profit donation work?

We’re committed to our community – we donate 5% of all voucher purchases to local schools or non-profits. And we’ve decided to let our customers pick where the money goes. Every time you buy a MyTownDeal, you can select your favorite non-profit – just type in their name, and we’ll do the rest.

Limitations: If you don’t pick one OR if we can’t figure out who you meant OR if you don’t pick a valid school or non-profit (picking yourself is not very original!), we’ll pick one for you. Don’t worry, we’ll pick good ones in our local community! We make donations quarterly, and if the total donation to a particular group in a quarter is less than $20, we reserve the right to redirect the donation to another valid non-profit. If you select a school, we generally send the donation to the school’s designated parent organization unless you specify otherwise. We’re looking forward to sending the next set of donation checks on August 15, 2011.

When do I get my MyTownDeal and how do I use it?

Within one business day of the deal closing, we send you a voucher to the email address you used during your purchase. This voucher contains the information you need to redeem your purchase from the merchant, including a voucher code. You need to print the voucher with the voucher code and bring it with you when you visit the merchant.

Are there any limitations on referral credits?

Referral credits are not redeemable for cash. Each referral credit can only be entered once and then it’s gone. This means if you use a referral credit on a MyTownDeal that costs less than $10, you only get credit up to the value of the deal. Sorry! Referral credits are non-transferable so don’t try to give them to your friends. Also, referrals to yourself or to others within your household aren’t valid as well. Some of our members have collected over 30 credits by sharing!

On the plus side, we currently do not limit the total number of referral credits you can earn or the number of referral credits you can apply to a single MyTownDeal purchase. We reserve the right to change the program with 21 days notice, so get lots of referrals in now and get your MyTownDeals for free!

Technology for tracking referrals isn’t perfect, so if you feel like you’re missing a referral credit, please email us at customer@mytowndeal.com and we’ll credit your account when appropriate.

I represent a school or non-profit.  How can we get more donations?

If you want to raise money for your group, all you need to do is to share our emails with your members and supporters!  All of them can raise money for you while getting great deals on stuff they want! We’re also happy to help with this – contact us at info@mytowndeal.com.

Do you provide refunds?

Generally, we do not provide refunds. However, if you made a mistake during your transaction, you can contact us with in 3 days of your purchase and we can cancel your transaction. Any voucher you may have received will be invalid. If you have already used your voucher, we are unable to provide you with a refund.

Do I get cash back?

In general, you need to spend the entire voucher amount. Cash refunds for the unused portion are not provided.

How is sales tax handled?

Unless it is specified differently in the terms of a specific voucher, sales tax is additional. ie. if you purchase $40 worth of service or products with a $40 voucher, you’ll need to pay the tax separately.

As well, the taxable amount is based on the list price of the service and product. ie. if you purchase a $40 worth with a $40 voucher that you acquired for $20, the taxable amount is $40.
